Over the last few weeks I’ve noticed a huge increase in the amount of homeless people in our community (Newcastle).

This is anything but Ok.

I think to some extent we all hope a charity will pick up this community need and perhaps they have to an extent, but there are still a large number of people in need. I see a lot of people turning a blind eye, perhaps not being able to tolerate the reality of what they are seeing. For the last few weeks it has played on my mind each day. Action is the only thing that will change this and so I am creating this page to help raise funds to make a homeless help kit. I'm aware it is not long term solution but it is a short term option offering 'a little relief’. I hoping to budget each kit at around £5-10, depending on the final list for each bag.

After giving it some thought I felt the following items would be helpful additions:

. Space blanket

. Toothbrush

. Toothpaste

. Plastic carrier for the kit items

. Spare plastic carrier

. Gloves

. Socks

. Wipes

. Litre bottle of water

. Sanitary items

. Condoms (we all have needs and deserve safe sex)

. Toilet roll

. A comb

. Travel bottles containing body wash/shampoo

. Mini first aid kit

. Inflatable travel pillow

. Eye mask (sleep)

. Ear plugs

. A pen

. A puzzle book of sorts (Everyone needs stimulation and a sense of achievement)

. A snack

. An item of fruit (one that can last a while)

. Ground sheet

. Torch

If there are any other suggestions you can think of I'd love to hear them :)

I have purchased a fair few items already but as you can imagine, even when buying in bulk/discounted/good old Amazon, it soon adds up.

I'd love if you could donate so we can make an even bigger impact, offering more to many more people...let's pull together guys!
