Story
Myself and a few friends taking part in an event to raise much needed donations for our local communities and more importantly raise awareness of issues that we as a community are presented with.
We have each pledged to raise a minimum of £500 for our individual charities and have volunteered to cover the cost of the trip ourselves.
The ride will consist of a scenic ride through the idyllic countryside's of both England and France. The 3 day charity ride starts at London Tower Bridge to Paris Eiffel Tower covering ~180mi:
Friday 25th August – London to Newhaven – 65 miles;
Saturday 26th August – Dieppe to Cergy – 95 miles; and
Sunday 27th August – Cergy to Paris – 22 miles.
I will be raising money for two organisations and splitting the money equally. They are: Homeless Aid UK & NICE
Homeless Aid UK is an organisation established and operated by a group of friends. They are dedicated to ending homelessness, by delivering a variety of life-changing services and campaigning for change. Of which they work predominantly in the Greater Manchester area.
These services target those forced to sleep on the streets, providing food, clothing and toiletries including a number of other vital items. Additionally they supply food hampers and clothing to the growing number of people living in poverty. They rely solely on donations and the support of the local community.
NICE
The mission of this charity is to improve the local area (Bolton) for the benefit of the inhabitants of the area.
Encourage the good will and involvement of the wider community in community enterprises. Foster community spirit and encourage civic pride in this town.
A community center to benefit the residents of Bolton. Without discrimination by associating together the residents and the local authorities, voluntary and other organizations in a common effort to advance education and improve the conditions of life & social recreation activities for the local residents.
