Story

I have been given the oppurtunity to go to Ghana in July 2019 to volunteer in a small fishing village called Woe, where we will be building and renovating classrooms, and teaching at the local school.

Due to the tradition of having a large family and the problem of poverty throughout Ghana, many children in Woe struggle to get to school each day because they are living on the streets or helping their families with fishing or agriculture from a very young age. For those that do get to school, resources are basic; classrooms are small and poorly constructed and their aren’t enough pencils and paper to go round everyone. We are aiming to change this by providing the local school with teaching resources and materials. When we‘re there, we will be carrying out both building and renovation, and teaching the children basic Maths, English and Science at the local school. By doing this we aim to give them a better, happier learning environment and therefore a potentially much brighter future.

I‘m very grateful to have been given this amazing oppurtunity to make a big difference in a community with very little and hope you will help to support this cause so I can reach my target and go and help these children in Woe. It‘s too easy to forget how lucky we are.

Thank you, Lucy x
