ABBEYFIELD SENSORY GARDEN PROJECT FOR 2019

To assist us with a very worthy new horticultural project for 2019.

Here at Abbeyfield Lear House and Elliot House Residential care in West Kirby, we are urgently raising funds to create a ‘Sensory Garden’ for 2019. This will enable our elderly residents to safely enjoy all that our gardens potentially have to offer in the spring and summer of 2019.

Creating a sensory garden will be an ambitious undertaking, aimed particularly at our residents suffering from dementia. We want to create stimulating, bright and inviting spaces where our residents can feel involved and meet their loved ones. This will involve a complete overhaul of our existing gardens, creating circular routes which are wheelchair friendly, ramps for more accessibility, and raised flower beds with scented flowers where our 'green fingered' residents can be encouraged.

Continuing with the theme set inside our homes for our dementia residents, we aim to set a colourful, well demarcated sensory environment which will enable them to easily find their way, with nostalgic additions to encourage recall.

We hope you will be able to kindly assist us as every donation will make a difference ! Many Thanks from our Abbeyfield Family xx
