Story

After being inspired by the London Marathon this year, my eight year son decided he would like to run for a cause. We have decided to take on the ‘Race at Your Pace’ 25 mile challenge across the month of May, raising money for two very important causes.

In memory of my aunt who sadly lost her battle with leukaemia last year, we will be donating half of the money raised to Leukaemia UK (https://www.leukaemiauk.org.uk/in-memoryofalovedone). This organisation researches cures for all blood cancers as well as offering support to patients and their families during treatment.

The other half of the donations will be going directly to one of the pupils in my class. I am the proud teacher of a very strong, little boy currently fighting leukaemia. He comes into school everyday with the biggest smile on his face and gives his all in every lesson! The money will be used to support him and his family during treatment, hospital visits and hopefully allow for some treats as well!

Please help us reach our target as we rack up the miles over May. I‘ll update this page regularly with our progress.

Thank you, Abbie and Noah x

A little update on why myself and Noah are raising money... Today the parents of Javi, the little boy in my class battling Leukemia, came to give me an update. Whilst Javi is doing amazingly well at the moment, what he goes through week to week is just unimaginable. Yet, everyday he comes to school with the biggest smile on his face. Due to the risk of a relapse or return of a cancer, his parents have decided to collect and store the umbilical cord stem cells from their new baby due later in the year. These cells are amazing and could provide valuable treatment to support Javi if the unthinkable happened. All of the money we donate to the family at the end of our challenge will go towards this collection and storage. So a massive, massive thank you to everyone that has supported us so far. We really are making a difference to this little boy and his family’s lives.
