Abbie - "I am fund raising to enable me the opportunity to go to Romania as part of my Year 10 GCSE Leadership course. It is to encourage hands on service of other which is what the leadership course is all about.

The Rational for the Trip is to work under the banner of 'Cry in the Dark'

Throughout the 7 day Trip I will be working with fellow students to Plan and run a selection of projects.
I will provide a day worth of activities for young people aged 2-22 years, with limited illnesses. This will include taking an assembly for all young adults at the day center at Casa Albert.
I will be expected to work with 22 young adults with a variety of mental disabilities within a 24/7 Residential Care Home in Casa Lumina.
I will be visiting Ungerni , and be expected to distribute food and encourage adults within is a state run institution.
I will be expected to run activities for a range of children from the ages of 4 to 15 where discipline can be difficult. Activities need to be run for 30 - 50 children and need to be carefully controlled, planned and monitored.
Finally, I will be part of a building project which would need finishing within the week. This may be a path, a fence, a ramp or whatever the need is.

All of these activities require essential people skills, skills I have been learning and developing through my leadership course. I have the confidence to speak publicly, can rise to any challenge with high levels of responsibility and organisation. Through this, I can be firm with rules and expectations and to work well within a team
I have a non-judgmental attitude to a diverse set of physical and emotional needs, and a willingness to serve without prejudice.
I work hard with any given task and have excellent use of initiative.

This is an amazing opportunity for me. Understanding I had the chance of a trip to Romania to help and support people was one of the main reasons I wanted to do GCSE leadership".
