Story

On May 29, 2018, Angel Hectorina Shyziie Japus fell off the sofa head first. After three days, she began vomiting. She also started having fever. Five days later, her fever got worse and she had an episode of seizure. We brought her to CUMC hospital in Cagayan de Oro City to seek professional help. In the interview, because we were clueless about the cause of her sudden illness, we recalled how she got bitten by a dog a month before and how she was injected with an anti-rabies vaccine for only a day. The doctor then concluded that the cause of her seizure is the rabies and that it already reached the brain of the child. The doctor told us that there is no cure but they were willing to provide medication for the purpose of easing the child’s pain and lengthen her life for at least 10 days. We believe that those various medicines they injected to the child only caused an overdose so we decided to bring her back home. We did not give up and so for three days, we stayed in the house and took care of her. But because her condition worsened, we brought her to another hospital. On June 10, 2018, Shyziie was hospitalized in Manuel J. Santos Hospital located in Butuan City. That day, she was operated in her left arm to open the skin and put dextrose through her nerve since her veins broke down enabling them to put dextrose through it. She was also intubated because she started having difficulty in breathing caused by the phlegm in her right lung. She was first diagnosed with Tuberculosis Meningitis. According to her attending doctor, her posture during seizures is a symptom of this illness. After few days in the intensive care unit, her fever subsided and her seizures stopped but she started swelling. She gradually stopped responding to us through her movements and voice and whenever we visit her she was always asleep. We got worried but the nurses assured us that she wakes up sometimes and we just weren’t there the same time she’s awake. The result of her EEG arrived and it was found that some nerves in her brain are starting to collapse. As of now, laboratory tests are still being done to check her internal organs. The doctor’s final diagnosis of her case is encephalitis meningitis (encepsis). The bacteria infected her body including her brain which caused her to be comatosed. Shyziie is suffering from meningitis and pneumonia.

She came from a family who cannot afford £85 worth of daily medications and that is the reason I made this page to seek help to support her and her family financially.

Thank you
