We are seeking to provide finacial support for the Aberystwyth Veteran Community group which currently meets every Wednesday evening in the community room in the Tesco Superstore on Park Avenue. There are a number of Veteran support groups and support schemes within Ceredigion, at Woody‘s Lodge and the Penparcau Community Hub. All funded through the Armed Forces Covenant. The small group in Aberystwyth find that they are often not supported in the ways in which other groups in the County are. Many members struggle with mobility issues and find it too difficult and in some cases impossible to attend the events in other areas of the county, so they rely on the local group. The donations to this cause will go directy to the group, namely Neil Davies the group organiser, and will help in a number of ways. Some members of the group struggle to find transport to bring them from a rural home into the town, a healty pot of funds would mean that Taxis could be paid for to bring those members to the meetings. Loneliness and isolation are a deadly scourge amongst our Veterans and fears over the cost or accessibility of transport should never obstruct members from attending what to some is the highlight of the week. Ultimately, these funds will be used in whatever way the group deems necessary. Whether that be subsidising a portion of the cost of a bus hire for a day trip or contributing to members yearly Christmas Meal, our Veterans in Aberystwyth deserve this support.
