aJen’s special place is an amazing charity that support children and families that are going through a bereavement.

After losing Jen in 2009, Jen’s family found that there was little support available to children on bereavement and with Jen sadly leaving three beautiful children and three nieces and nephews they felt that something should be improved.

Jen's Special Place was created in 2014, aiming to provide better access to the help, advice and support that children and their families need in such dark days.

So how do I fit in?

I met Jen when I was 16, joining the team at Topshop where Jen already worked. Through work, we became friends and then best of friends.

Jen was heroic through all of her treatment, being pregnant with her youngest for the majority of it. Taya was born in May and Jen sadly lost her battle in November. Along with Taya, Jen has George and Ella who were sadly left to deal with the loss of this beautiful life.

After the loss of Jen, as everybody does, I went through a lot of unsettlement and change, I am who and where I am today because of the support of my sister. Rachael is the one who got me in to running and crazy races, we completed tough mudder a few years ago but when she fell pregnant we both stopped! Getting the buzz back we are ready for more challenge, along with my sister an amazing group of friends and I are taking part in a 9 hour endurance run!

Last year we completed two endurance races that lasted for 6 hours and between us managed 112 miles on just one of the races. The one that awaits us in March is a 9 hour endurance and we aim to beat that.

Those that know me, know that the first run I manged 20 miles and I was broken, both emotionally and physically. This meant that my heart wasn’t ready for the next one and I only managed 16 miles, this time for Jen, I aim to do better and raise both money and awareness for Jen’s Special Place.
