I'm raising £1,000 to support my continued rescuing of waterfowl in the central Hertfordshire area.

My name is Abi and I work full time as a veterinary nurse, in my little free time i rescue swans, ducks and geese in the central Hertfordshire area, on call 24/7. I do not receive any money or compensation for this cause and (especially during the summer months) i often open my home to birds needing a few days of rest and recuperation or orphaned ducklings needing a few weeks to grow. Those needing longer term care are driven to sanctuaries or wildlife hospitals often many miles away out the county. This work can be emotionally and physically tiring, especially after a full day or week at work, and is a constant juggle. But i continue as i have a soft spot for these wonderful birds.

This fundraiser will help me keep afloat, especially with rising fuel costs and all food and equipment i need to help keep these birds safe, warm, fed and comfortable. It costs me an average of £1000 each year to do the work that i do.
