I've raised £1000 to fund a fun filled activity programme for Young Carers aged 7-25 to enjoy much needed headspace from their caring responsibilities at home

Young Carers are young people who care for a family member with a disability, a long term health condition, a mental or physical illness or issues with drug and alcohol use. They can do anything from weekly shopping, administering medication, caring for siblings, cooking meals, cleaning the house, assisting with moving and handling or staying up at night to check on the person they care for. They have a huge amount of responsibility and often carry emotional burdens resulting in high anxiety levels, poor mental and physical health and issues with school and further education. We believe Young Carers are young people first and should be allowed the chance to thrive along with their peers. Broomhouse Young Carers provides weekly support and activity groups for Young Carers to enjoy space away from their caring roles at home. We believe it is essential that they have the same chance as everyone else to expand their lives through shared opportunities, experiences and fun.
