I've raised £5000 to to start a charity /drop in centre for grandparents who are full time guardians/cares for their grandchildren

The people that will benefit from this fund are grandparents taking on parental responsibility for the second time around by caring for their grandchildren in order to prevent them from entering into the care system. Grandchildren will also benefit in more ways than one. May is a grandmother who has cared full time for her grandchildren for 15 years, she has done this single handed with no support from Social Services. Everyday I hear of a new case where a grandmother who is usually single have had to to step in to care for another grandchild/ren because their own children are not fit to do due to mental health, drug abuse or death. There are no hands on face to face tangible places where these individuals can they can meet in order to support each other. One of the impetus for for creating this page is that It has been a long isolated journey for many Grandparents carers, especially in the school playground where one has nothing in common with younger parents. Granparenthood is a time when individuals should be enjoying retirement; but in order to prevent their grandchildren from entering the care system: many grandparents take on the labour of love.During this life stage many grandparents also have to deal with their own health issues and bringing children up often alone is not an easy task. Combined with this is financial constraints and a lack of a healthy social life. Working in partnership with a handful of grandparents, we are to creating a hub where grandparents carers can meet regularly to discuss issues surrounding their status as parents for the second time around., share information face to face and access other facilities that are available to them in the community. There are some organisations in place currently that attempts to help grandparents, but the focus is not on the issue of becoming parents to grandchildren. We have a registered a domain name and our website is under construction, it will cost £150 to £200 for it to become live. We are saving towards that possibility. As well as a drop in centre, we would like to organise respite where grandparents can have short weekend breaks and pamper day etc. Within the centre we would also like to organise coffee mornings ,a luncheon club, where grandparents carers can meet a few times a week whilst the children are at school and a play area for younger children. In addition to an opportunity for users to learn new skills, teachers are waiting to volunteer. Our long term plan is also to operate a home-work ,holiday , after school club. "In order to develop and actualise our vision we are aiming to raise £5000 and would be grateful for any support that individuals can offer monetary ,info or otherwise.
The vision is clear and can be achieved with the support of able well wishers
