Story

Maybe I am mad, crazy or just adventurous! But I have signed up and committed to what I hope will be the first of many incredible adventures I will embark on through my lifetime. In the summer of 2020, I am going to cross Costa Rica from the Pacific to the Caribbean in approximately 25 days.

This is an educational journey which will challenge my view on the world. Starting with Kayaking, snorkelling and a discover SCUBA dive on the Pacific side, I will then mountain bike and trek my way into the highlands of this beautiful Central American country. From here, I will visit small communities where I will lend a hand on a community projects, before a descent to the Caribbean by mountain bike and a thrilling two day white-water rafting adventure through pristine rainforest and dramatic river canyons. The last few days are spent on the Caribbean beaches, helping out in a turtle conservation reserve, meeting sloths and learning to surf.

This trip has been classed as a grade 3 adventure/culture shock! Some days I will be walking between 5 and 7 hours and up to an altitude of 2,500m. As you can imagine, there are going to be many challenges for me on this trip, the biggest being the environment. I will have to learn to adapt to this alien environment and it will be a struggle. I will be exposed to signs of poverty and the accommodation will be very basic. The food will be quite different to home and i will be taught to purify my own water ensuring we are as environmentally friendly as possible.

My first task to be able to go on this amazing expedition, is to fund raise the cost of the trip. My fund raising target is £4000. I know this is a massive amount of money, so I will be challenging myself so that donations will be worthy.

In the next summer holidays, I will be cycling (yes cycling) 568.5 miles from the most Westerly point of Britain (Ardnamurchan light house) to the most Easterly point (Lowestoft).

I am not a fan of riding my bike at all, despite mum and Robs best efforts! So when I was thinking, what could I do to really challenge myself and deserve people’s donations, this seemed perfect.

This event is how I am planning to raise the biggest fraction of my funds, as it is massively out of my comfort zone, and I want my exhibition to be something that I truly earn’t, and I feel by doing this bike ride, I will feel that sense of achievement and accomplishment. I am, with most appreciation, asking you to support me as I travel through the country, helping me to raise the money I need for this once in a life time opportunity. Any donation, big or small, we be accepted gratefully, and will give me the motivation to get me to Costa Rica in 2020.

Thank you so much for your help, because your donations will help me achieve so much that I can be proud of, at such a young age.
