“You can help now by giving to our campaign! When you make a donation, we can instantly tick a child off the list for a gift whose lives in a deprived area in Abingdon.”
“Help local children because their happiness is in our hands.”
Abingdon Community Events (Oxfordshire) is a local group who helps low-income families within the Abingdon area.
Our aim is to help children in the local area receive a Christmas gift, all the children are referred to us by charities, local community groups, nurses and home workers and local schools. 2018 we had over 700 presents went out to under privileged children.
* According to the 2015 IMD, Abingdon has one area (within Abingdon Caldecott ward) that is ranked within the 20% most deprived areas nationally. This area also ranks within the 10% most deprived on Education, Skills, and Training and within the 20% most deprived on Income and on Employment. * According to the latest local measure of child poverty (HMRC, Aug 2014) there was a total of 680 children aged under 16 in low-income families in Abingdon. The rate of children in low-income families varied from 2.6% in Abingdon Dunmore to 24% in Abingdon Caldecott (old ward boundaries) In order to continue this work in Abingdon we need to source the following items * Selection boxes * Wrapping paper/gift tags * Board Games * Kids toys 0-5, 5-12, and teenager gifts
Could you help and put a smile on a child’s face this Christmas?
