Weʼre raising £100 to buy menstrual products and nappies for women in need

Stevenage, UK

What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

ABGC is a charitable initiative started by Sanya Masood and Sophie Harrold, two friends from Stevenage, Hertfordshire. Founded in response to The Homeless Period (a campaign that raised awareness about the lack of government provision of menstrual products to homeless shelters and refuges), we collect donations of menstrual products and nappies to distribute to women’s organisations around the country.

We launched our first campaign in July 2015, collecting donations from friends, family and local supporters to personally drop off at The Whitechapel Centre in Liverpool. Since then, we have delivered thousands of donations to organisations in London, Stevenage, Luton, Birmingham and Nottingham.

In 2017, we were lucky enough to partner with eco-friendly menstrual producer producer and donor, Freda, and in 2018, we were delighted to assist the national Red Box Project via their local collection in Hackney, gathering donations for schoolgirls who would otherwise go without menstrual products.

Campaign #9

ABGC’s ninth campaign is supporting Trevi House, a residential rehabilitation centre in Plymouth which helps women work through addiction, mental illness and abuse. As well as pads and tampons, we will be collecting nappies on this occasion, as the residents of Trevi House are all mothers and children.

Donations will be dropped off during the penultimate weekend in August. Supporters can donate personally, or get in touch via ABGC’s Facebook page for a delivery address; alternatively, supporters can donate products via our Amazon Wishlist page, or on the Freda donation page, or make a cash donation to enable us to buy products for you via our Crowdfunding page.
