    Story

After the Zika epidemic dropped out of the news cycle people seemed to forget the legacy of the disease. Thousands of children and families will continue to live with the devastating effects of the Zika virus for many years. We want to help improve the lives of these families.

Some of the children born with microcephaly will have balance and coordination problems, problems eating and swallowing, as well as problems with speech and vision for their whole lives. Abraco a Microcefilia is a program started by mothers who understand the impact this condition has on their lives. It aims to strengthen the network of mothers so that they can face challenges together and support each other.

London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine's International Centre for Evidence in Disability and Arctec in partnership with the Bug Off campaign are doing a 5 or 10k run on the 17th of December to raise $10 000 for Abraco a Microcefilia.

Abraco a Microcefilia aims to provide social support, physical therapy and orthoses to ease the effects of Microcephaly.

For $10,000 Abraco can provide one year of physical therapy assistance for 20 children and donate 40 orthoses. All these will help children affected by microcephaly to improve their physical functioning and quality of life.
