Story
The picture is of Rick (my husband) and Lou when they were working together in ABR Plumbing & Heating Services; it was December 2017 and they had just managed to get a shower donated by a local merchant, which they were fitting free of charge - in a house which had been 'gifted' to a local homeless charity to get some of the local homeless people off the streets for Christmas.
Lou and Rick met while volunteering in Bolton Mountain Rescue Team around 2004, Rick set up his own plumbing and heating business and not long after Lou joined as his apprentice. She spent the next few years learning the trade, studied for and gained various gas/water/lpg/etc qualifications and then in March last year when Rick's old bones wouldn't hold up to the job any more, Lou took over the business. She has worked so hard as a one-(wo)man band to keep it all going and make it a success, keeping long-standing customers happy while getting new customer too.
Today while she was inside a property working, and the van was parked outside - four men in a black audi (false plates) decided her hard-earned work stuff (tools, toolboxes, parts, materials, drill bits, etc) belonged to them. They luckily didn't damage her van, and we think that the pipe fittings have been recovered as well (thanks to the power of Facebook!!) - but her tools, which she earns her money with day to day with - are gone.
She's not yet sure if she's actually insured for the tools (they were a few years old and so their 'value' isn't always a true reflection of what they actually mean to a business) - but even if she is, she will have an excess to pay.
I have started this page as a few friends/customers have suggested it and I would like to do my bit to help Lou to keep her business going, and to make her realise that while there are some horror-bags in the world - there are far more nice poeple out there.
If you can give any amount - £1 is fantastic - that would be amazing, as it would not only help Lou but it would also show that little things can help to change the big picture for the better.
