I've raised £40000 to pay for the medical expenses of Prof. Paul Osifodunrin. To save a life.

A Call to the Compassionate:
Professor Paul Osifodunrin, a lecturer of History at University of Lagos, Nigeria since 2008, has been transferred from the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) suffering from lung cancer to the Methodist Hospital, Sugar Land in Houston Texas and tests reveal he has a Pleural based Cancer in his lungs which is rare and very expensive to treat.
In fact because of the rarity of the case, the Oncologist in charge of his case – Dr William Velasquez, is intending to address the TUMOUR BOARD IN HOUSTON. The main treatment is surgery and it is a delicate and very expensive procedure. The cost of treatment is likely to increase given the new diagnosis but his condition is stable for now even as he waits for our support and he believes that prayer is one of the things that has kept him alive so far.
This was a clear case of NEGLIGENCE:
Negligence on the part of the hospital personnel at University of Lagos Health Centre that did not give him his initial diagnosis when he first went for treatment.
Fainting spells, breathlessness and tiredness were the symptoms that forced him to go to the Medical Centre again on Thursday 26th October 2017. An X-ray was done and it was discovered that a large mass had grown on the right side of his lungs. He was immediately referred to LUTH where he was admitted on Friday 27th October 2017 and discharged on Friday 17th November 2017. A series of tests indicated that he had fluid in his lungs which had to be drained and that the entire right side of his lungs was covered by a malignant mass. The fluid was drained on the 29th October 2017 while sample tissues were extracted from the right side of his chest for pathological analysis. The samples were sent to two labs, one in LUTH and the other one outside. The two results came back with slightly different conclusions but the result from LUTH indicated that Dr Paul had THYMOMA and that the cancerous tumour was in STAGE 4, the penultimate stage. The Chest and surgery Unit declared that the tumour was inoperable and subsequently transferred him to the Radiology Unit for chemotherapy. But the chemotherapy machine was faulty and if in need of radiation, he was told he would have to be transferred to the National Hospital in Abuja, which at that time was not admitting patients. LUTH didn't have the equipment he needed to survive. NEGLIGENCE
This was the background to the decision of Dr Paul’s family to move him to the United States of America for treatment, STAGE FOUR CANCER meant that the tumour had advanced considerably and anything, including death could occur at any time. America was chosen because he had a Visa. And so he travelled with his wife on Saturday November 18, 2017.
This is a clear case of NEGLIGENCE on the part of Government leaders who have made no provision of SIMPLE machinery in a country such as Nigeria. They have complicated the matter.
When he married his darling wife Bukky, nine years ago, he didn’t know that he would have to wait before they had children. They waited patiently for 8 years and are now blessed with a set of beautiful twin girls, Teniola and Tinuola. The girls just turned 1 year old.
Would you be a part of giving them time with their father?
This is a call to the compassionate out there.
Give compassionately to make time for a family to be together.
The latest update is that he will be moved to another hospital for the surgery to reduce costs. This is currently being researched. We are hopeful and believe that all will end well.
Please support this worthy cause. GIVE and SHARE.
Give to beat cancer.
Give to save a life.
Do not let NEGLIGENCE win.
All funds will go towards his treatment in Houston, America.
