Story

I had to think for a long time about doing this.

My Dad Micky is a very proud man and has no idea I'm doing it, but sometimes you have to accept help.

I don't think there would be a more relevant time than now.

My Dad at 62, was diagnosed with terminal cancer last November. So far he has been responding well to treatment to help prolong things further than the year we were first given.

My Dad has been a local taxi driver in Fleet for over 25 years and helped so many people along the way.

Because he would be having some chemo his taxi licence was taken away.

The worst part for me was seeing how dejected this left him. Even worse than when he heard he had cancer. All he wants to do is be able to get back to some sort of work. Sometimes however bleak in life your diagnosis is, I know that having hope, positivity and a purpose can make a huge difference.

He has been left with no job no income and no car because of his cancer, and I know what has kept him going has been the hope one day he would get his Hackney Carriage Licence back. Yesterday we learnt that this isn't looking like it's ever going to be possible because he will have times he will be on chemo.

I am his main carer. My little girls and I will be doing the 5k glow run for him. If we could raise just enough to suprise him with a car and help with the running costs over a little time, I know being able to get his sense of purpose back and to try and find some part time work, would mean more than anything to him.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart and I hope I can give back to anyone who needs help in the future. Becky Xxxx
