Story
We are a local Women's Football Club with just under 30 members, competing in the Greater London Women's Football League.
This club was formed in 2016 with an aim to inspire graduates to continue to play football after completing their university education. Whilst there are many female clubs in and around London, joining a new team from university can be daunting. Yet the 'Accies' have managed to recruit players from various London Universities (UCL, Kings, LSE, Queen Mary University, Royal Holloway) and even attract interest from footballers who just have moved into London. One reason for this is because ensuring a positive and welcoming environment for all is central to the club's strategy.
The club is dedicated to provide opportunities for women to play football weekly to a competitive standard, create and maintain friendships and develop as footballers. We are very proud of our achievements and the hard work of a lot of people connected with the club has also led to on-field success. We achieved promotion and were cup champions in our first season, and performed very well last season in the higher division.
There are however many expenses connected with running the club and we rely for funding solely on our own fundraising events, the support of local businesses and membership fees. As you might know, women's sport, in particular football is not well funded or supported sadly. Your money will help keep this club up and running - thank you.
