I'm raising £127000 to Sponsor the Next Generation of EV & Hybrid Technicians in Ghana

Organised by AceCorps

Story

I'm raising £127,000 to sponsor the Next Generation of EV & Hybrid Technicians in Ghana.

Purpose

ACE Corps Ghana and ACE Mechatronics UK have

formed a Ghana-UK partnership to create opportunities for young people through technical training, entrepreneurship and recognised automotive qualifications.

Our goal is to train 100 young people in automotive diagnostics, hybrid vehicle systems, EV readiness and business development, helping them build practical skills that can lead to self-employment, business ownership and long-term opportunity.

The programme combines hands-on training in Ghana with technical expertise from the United Kingdom, creating a pathway for skills development and knowledge exchange.

THE CHALLENGE

Electric and hybrid vehicles are becoming more common across Ghana.

However, too few technicians have received specialist training and many workshops are not yet prepared for these new technologies.

At the same time, many young people need practical pathways into self-employment and entrepreneurship.

Without investment in skills development, opportunities created by this growing sector may be missed.

OUR SOLUTION

Through the ACE Ghana Automotive Skills &

EV Exchange Programme, we will provide training in:

✓ Automotive Diagnostics

✓ Hybrid Vehicle Systems

✓ EV Readiness

✓ Entrepreneurship

✓ Business Development

All participants will work towards recognised qualifications aligned with national standards and internationally recognised industry competencies.

A select group of outstanding participants will also have the opportunity to undertake advanced practical training through ACE Mechatronics UK.

WHY THIS MATTERS

This project is about much more than vehicle repair.

It is about empowering young people, supporting entrepreneurship, creating pathways to self-employment and preparing Ghana for the future of mobility.

Every trainee represents a future business owner, mentor and role model within their community.

Our vision is to create opportunities that continue long after the programme ends.

A Note on Our Fundraising Target & Currency Transparency.

You might notice that our overall goal listed in Pounds (£) looks slightly higher than a crude, day-to-day currency conversion of our $150,000 USD project target. Because we are fundraising in GBP for an NGO operating on the ground in Ghana, we must protect the project budget from international processing friction. The charity anchors its operations in US Dollars to stabilize its purchasing power for supplies and project execution. To guarantee they receive the full $150,000 required, our total goal factors in a 12% operational buffer to absorb the following real-world costs:

Platform & Transaction Fees: The platform automatically retains 2.9% + 35p plus VAT on every individual micro-donation. Because our average donation is around £8, this processing fee reduces our net intake by roughly 8% across thousands of smaller transactions.

International Banking & Conversion Charges: Moving money directly from a UK platform to an international organization operating in Ghana incurs standard commercial bank exchange markups, currency conversion layers, and SWIFT routing fees (~4%). This buffer also protects the campaign from daily currency market swings while the fundraiser is active, ensuring a sudden dip in the Pound doesn't leave the project underfunded.

Every single penny remaining after these standard platform and conversion costs go directly to the frontline work in Ghana.

Thank you for your support and understanding!

What happens if we exceed our goal?

Any surplus funds raised beyond our core $150,000 USD project target—or any extra cash saved through efficient bank conversion rates—will be directed straight into our Charity’s Core Mission Support Fund. This allows us to quickly deploy resources where they are needed most on the ground. Alternatively, extra funds may be used to push forward our other critical campaign initiatives.
