Story

A Class Care is a Live-In care provider that provides 24 hour Care to the elderly in their own homes. During this pandemic our elderly clients have felt disconnected from their children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren. This has caused a number of our clients to feel anxious, depressed and in some instances, they have become recluse.

This isolation has not only affected our elderly clients but their family members too. They are feeling the guilt of not being able to visit, the anxiety of "is my loved one ok" and going for long periods of time with our speaking or seeing people they care about.

Whilst our carers make every effort to ensure that our clients are engaged and involved there is still that desire to see their loved ones. Unfortunately, some of our elderly clients love one’s live miles away and they are not able to see them for short periods of time. Our clients also do not have the technology to see their loved ones.

We received a quote from our 88-year-old client last week:

"I have 3 children, who are grown up, married with their own children. Just because I am old it does not mean I don't worry about them. Seeing my children and grandchildren brings me so much joy. Not being able to see them makes me feel very worried"

We have recognised the psychological impact social isolation is causing to vulnerable groups and we want to change this. We no longer want people to feel disconnected and estranged from their loved ones. We know that we are unable to bring family members together during this time but what we can do is use innovation and technology to keep our clients and loved ones connected.

We want to raise £500 to buy Ipad's and Facebook Pods for our most vulnerable clients. The more we can raise the more equipment we can buy. With our small team based in Brickhill, Bedford we have agreed to complete 280,000 steps during Mental Health Awareness week from the 18th to 24th May 2020. Please become involved and donate. Together, we can make a difference. To find out more visit us at www.aclasscare.co.uk or email us at info@aclasscare.co.uk
