I've raised £15000 to support, promote and develop young people outdoor activities in Alfreton

James Simpson is participating The Deca, an Ironman triathlon every day for 10 days,.... or put it another way, a total of 24 miles of swimming, 1,120 miles cycling and 262 running. Lets break that down, every day on average, James will swim 2.5 miles, cycle for 112 miles and then run a marathon, all for charity!!
What is he raising the money for? James is very keen to engage young people in outdoor activities, that could be anything from just walking to formal team sports, and activities, but James has a special love for Forest School activities and the benefits he sees they have in young people.
James will attempt this gruelling feat in the last 2 weeks of July 2022 and to mark this event, Sisu, (who will be running the Alfreton Community Hub), and Alfreton Town Council be hosting events to celebrate James's efforts and in conjunction with this we will be launching the Active8 Alfreton Project which will encourage people of all ages, abilities and fitness levels to undertake some form of regular physical activity, this may be anything from chair-based exercise to squash and everything in-between. We will also be creating outdoor activities such as self-led and guided walks, Orienteering and Wayfaring trails, suggested cycle and dog routes of interest, and the proposed establishment of a Forest School area and Wild Park. The activities come under 8 headings; run, walk, swim, ride, kick, throw, hit, and lift.
For the week commencing July 18th, we will be encouraging schools to participate in physical activities on a daily basis, then the weekend 23rd/24th July, activities will be held on Alfreton Park as an official launch pf the Activ8 Alfreton Project and to encourage James at his half-way point. The following week (25th July) taster sessions and other activities will be held around Alfreton if people are interested in taking up a new activity but are unsure if it is for them.
