Story

Faye has a condition called Diamond Blackfan Anaemia (DBA) it is a rare bone marrow failure disorder. Basically Faye’s bone marrow doesn’t produce enough red blood cells to sustain her life.

Faye relies on the general public to donate blood so she can receive blood transfusions every three weeks and has done from she was 12 weeks old. We are very grateful to blood donors for saving our little girls life every month. But these blood transfusions are having an adverse affect on Faye’s internal organs and she is now suffering from iron overload which needs intensive medication.

Faye’s consultant advised that a bone marrow transplant is the best option because of the iron overload. We are now trying to find a match for Faye to have this life changing procedure. As Faye’s condition is extremely rare she is excluded from all charities bar one in Northern Ireland which is Angel Wishes. DBA UK supports Faye and all families with DBA. They help fund vital research into a cure for DBA. A bone marrow transplant is not a cure for DBA it just excludes the need for blood transfusions. It is extremely important to us that a cure is found for Faye and other families living with this condition. Thank you so much for your support we are very touched xx
