Story

I decided to set up this enterprise to connect people in the community and to get people more active. I am passionate about fresh air and fun ActiviTeas as a way to promote robust mental health and making friends is a huge part of that too. I set up ActiviTeas to provide a way to enable people to make friends and tackle social isolation in the area where I live in Abbey Ward, Lincoln.

One of the elements of ActiviTeas is Ninja-Beats, this focuses on the joy and connections which can be made from music. We will be putting on some day time events. The power of music to shift mood has helped me connect with my Mother-in-Law who has Alzheimers and I am sure this will help others too.

ActiviTeas also encompasses Art Ninjas. Lincoln Art Ninjas is a group I set up in 2016 and it uses creativity and doing acts of kindness for others through art. It is a group where people create small creative things and leave them in places for strangers to find. The group has many talents and encourages people to upcycle and try new skills. It has successfully improved members confidence and self-esteem and I have also stretched it to have groups in other Counties which is exciting!

Ken runs Ninja-Fit which meets everyday in the Arboretum to have a fun fitness session. We would love for more people to enjoy this group, no need to book or anything just come along and join in to your level. Ken is experienced enough to be able to support you in your fitness goals and devise a program to suit your level of fitness, being careful of any health considerations. We are looking to set up a weekly family exercise session soon too!

Everything we offer is free. We want everyone to be able to access what we offer, but as we know nothing in life is free! So, we are asking for your support if you can.

It would be lovely to be able to sustain this group, it does require us to have insurance, first aid certificated a DBS , some equipment as well as a website, all of which amount to about £500 a year. We would love to go on to do more events and add more groups in the future and make some positive impact on the community. This crowdfunding page is in the hope that people will support us in doing that. Thank you for reading this far!

A BIT ABOUT US!

I, (Mia) am trained in working with peoples mental and emotional wellbeing, food for mood and creative therapy as well as being an ex competitive marathon race-walker! Retired now due to injuries I am still focussed on promoting fresh-air for health. I am also a graphic designer, an artist, tutor and creative instigator. I recently returned to study at the University of Lincoln to brush up my skills and update my technology experience. I studied Human Interaction Design and proudly earned a first class honours degree at the age of 51!

I parent (and step-parent) six children, all of whom are flying off in different directions following their dreams as they should be!

Ken is an experienced Coach and swimming teacher of nearly 30 years experience. He is one of the best swimming teachers I have ever seen and loves his work so much we started Ninja-Swim to enable us to fund the other community projects we want to kick off too. ( he thought he would retire - ha!) His previous career in the Police has given him a wide range of experience with people from all walks of life so he is very able to deal with anything that is thrown at him! He is currently the Chair of Abbey Ward Community Forum.

We are both fully insured, DBS checked and continue to train and add in professional development to enable us to support as many people as we can with what we love to do - Bring people together to create a healthier and happier community.
