Story
Who are we?
We are two students from the UK and an engineer from the US currently working with e-NABLE, a charity based in Medellin, Colombia that uses the technology of 3D printing to create free, personalised prosthetics to those in need across the country.
Chris has worked as an engineer for the organisation, developing our new leg prosthetic. Antonia and Frances are here to help the general running of the organisation in order to get prosthetics to those who need them.

What e-NABLE does
Colombia has around 20,000 people who have undergone limb amputations due to land mine explosions and other accidents. Our work isn’t just about helping people to regain their independence, it’s about boosting self-confidence and helping people to reintegrate into society.
Collaborating with local doctors, students and engineers, we are able to produce quality prosthetics in just 2 weeks. We work with our recipients to personalize designs, whether that’s to look like a Disney princess, to show off their football team’s colours or just to have a subtle design that matches their skin tone.
To date we have made mechanical arms and hands, as well as developing a robotic hand that will respond to muscle twitches to move the fingers. We give out all of our assistive devices free of charge to those who need them.

What this crowd fund will support
We are launching this campaign to help e-NABLE continue the work for the last year and a half and support their current development projects.
Over the next year, e-NABLE will aim to change at least 25 lives in 2018 and double this in 2019. We will do this with free prosthetics and we will be continuing to pioneer the development of some of the first 3D printed prosthetic legs in the world. We are really excited to see our organisation growing as we help more people and develop our projects. However, as we meet with more and more people requiring prosthetics, we need a permanent Colombian engineer as part of our team to ensure we are able to provide this service. A full-time engineer will also ensure the continuous development of specific projects, such as developing our new leg prosthetic so that we can eventually offer it to the colombian community. We hope that through this campaign, we will be able to raise enough money to provide a year´s salary for a local Colombian engineer.
Donations of any size, big or small, will make a huge difference, so thank you so much for your generosity from the whole e-NABLE team!
PLEASE NOTE donations are made in British pounds.
