Story

In Autumn 2020, a team of Cheshire Fire and Rescue Cadets and staff will be travelling out to Nepal to build a school in the remote community. Working in partnership with Classrooms in the Clouds, we will be raising over £70000 as a team, which will cover the building of the school's classrooms and toilet facilities by local craftspeople, and also fund our team of young people and leaders to fly out to complete the finishing touches and present the school to the community.

I myself will be travelling out as a leader to insure the safety and well-being of the cadets while they are in Nepal, during the 1.5 days of hiking to reach the site, while we're on-site constructing the school, and during the hike back down. I'll be responsible for their health and safety, and also seeing to their emotional needs: they'll be a long way from home, in a culture that's an extreme contrast to all the home comforts they're used to. For myself, it'll be a brilliant challenge that will allow me to see an entirely different world, where life is harder but the values are stronger.

In order to travel over as staff to support our young people, I need to raise a personal target of £2500, which I aim to achieve through various organised events and challenges, as well as from your kind donations via this page.
