I've raised £2000 to build a bike shed. On the 30th March 2019, SAMARITANS RIDERS will be cycling from Leicester to Whitby, 183 miles journey for a good cause.

Story

It is well known that for children to thrive mentally and physically they need to exercise: yet of the 8.3 million children who go to school daily only about 2% use their bicycles or scooters. This is a missed opportunity to exercise with a purpose. It costs nothing and might well save you a car journey!
No doubt there are reasons why children do not cycle to school but one is a lack of dedicated, secure and dry storage space. Of course children and parents object to the idea of riding home on a wet cycle that has been resting chained to a fence perhaps on the edge of a wet playing field. At Merrydale infant’s school that is exactly what pupils have to do. Merrydale does not have a bike shed.
The school is a fantastic family community with a number of bike-loving children but the lack of a bike shed must discourage everyone from using bikes. I hope you agree with what I am saying and will consider helping to raise money to have a bike shed put in place.
Please donate what you can to help build a bike shed for your children’s use. Your generosity will encourage cycling and so be of benefit now and into the future.
Thank you. Donations can be made ....
