Story
"I Hate School."
Those were the first words a young person said when they walked through our doors.
At just 13 years old, they had stopped attending school. Anxiety had become overwhelming. Their confidence had disappeared. Every morning was a battle.
Teachers had tried. Parents were exhausted. Professionals were worried.
The child sat with their head down, hoodie pulled over their face, convinced they would fail at anything they tried.
For weeks, they barely spoke.
Then one day, they picked up a guitar.
Not because they wanted to learn.
Not because someone told them to.
But because it was there.
A few weeks later, they were staying longer. Talking more. Smiling occasionally.
Months later, they were attending regularly, making plans for the future, and performing music they had written themselves.
The guitar didn't change their life.
The opportunity did.
The belief that someone saw potential in them did.
The chance to discover something they were good at did.
And that is why we need your help.
Every Day We Meet Children Who Have Lost Faith In Themselves
Across Oldham and Rochdale, there are vulnerable young people facing challenges most adults would struggle to carry.
Some have experienced trauma.
Some are living with anxiety so severe they cannot enter a classroom.
Some have been excluded from school.
Some have special educational needs that have never been fully understood.
Some have simply been told "no" so many times that they no longer believe they can succeed.
These children are not bad children.
They are hurting children.
Children who need support, understanding and a different way to learn.
At Upturn Enterprise's Alternative Provision, we provide exactly that.
We create safe spaces where young people can rebuild confidence, regulate emotions, develop skills and reconnect with education through creativity, practical learning and positive relationships.
Every young person who walks through our doors deserves the chance to discover their strengths.
Unfortunately, many of the tools that help make this possible are expensive.
Our Dream
We want to create an inspiring learning environment where vulnerable young people can discover talents they never knew they had.
A place where a child who struggles in a classroom can thrive behind a drum kit.
A place where a young person battling anxiety can find their voice through music production.
A place where creativity becomes confidence.
Where practical skills become future careers.
Where young people stop seeing themselves as failures and start seeing possibilities.

Why Your Donation Matters
A donation is not just funding equipment.
It is funding confidence.
It is funding hope.
It is funding opportunities for children who often feel forgotten.
For some young people, a drum kit becomes emotional regulation.
A tablet becomes self-expression.
A gardening project becomes improved mental wellbeing.
A recording studio becomes the first place they truly believe in themselves.
The equipment is important.
But the lives it could help transform are priceless.
Please Help Us Change a Child's Story
Somewhere in our community is another young person sitting at home tonight believing they are not good enough.
Together, we can prove them wrong.
Whether you donate £5, £50 or £500, you are helping create opportunities that can change a child's future.
Please donate if you can.
Please share if you cannot.
Because every child deserves someone who believes in them before they believe in themselves.
