Story
We will be attempting the Devizes to Westminster canoe race this Easter. The race is 125 miles, equivalent to over 4 ½ marathons and is split over 4 days. We will be paddling it in a 15-year-old kayak that has completed DW a number of times in the past. Our training has been thorough and have been kayaking 3 days a week for over a year! We had hoped to complete the race last year, but due to adverse weather conditions, the 2nd half of the race had to be cancelled because of dangerously high river flow. Despite this disappointing finish to last years race we are even more determined to finish the race this year and hope to place within the top 10 again out of hundreds of other competitors.!
We will be kayaking to be raise money for The Jemima Layzell Trust which helps fund the provision of treatment and care for young people suffering because of brain injury as well as for the Devizes Canoe club. We would like to ask you for a donation towards our fundraising efforts.
All profits will be split equally between the two causes.

5 years agoWe have been taking part in the DW waterside races, which is a series of 4 races of different distances along the canal. Waterside A- Adam paddled on his own for this 13.5 mile race from Great Bedwyn to Newbury and placed 10th in his category with a time of 2 hours 25 min. Waterside B- Despite 40mph head winds waterside B was our fastest race yet. It consisted of a 17.5 mile paddle from Newbury to Aldermaston & back, which we completed in 2 hours 55 min finishing 4th out of 26th narrowly missing 3rd place. Waterside C- 24th March
