I am 14 years old and I have decided to go on an expedition with Camps International for 4 weeks in 2019 to do volunteer work in the local community. I will be carrying out many different projects in a rural area of Borneo where majority of people are living below the poverty line.

For example I will be involved in building toilets, as many people don't have access to proper facilities. Cleaning up beaches - did you know that one plastic bag can kill a turtle- with recycled rubbish we could build toilet installations instead of spending money, that could be used for other projects. Planting trees as part of the reforestation program because Borneo is a country that is being subjected to vast commercial farming.

During my expedition I will be going to the Sun Bear sanctuary where I will be helping them as they are quickly becoming extinct due to the deforestation of their habitat also I will be visiting the famous Sepilok orangutan sanctuary. As most children don't have access to schools due to travel issues or not a school in the area or they just can't afford to go to school, I will be building a school and bridges so more children have the chance of a better life, I look forward to teaching the children English and Maths during my stay.

The funds will be going towards expedition costs and buying the resources needed to carry out the community work whilst I am out there.
