Story

Hello everyone,

Many of you already know why we are writing this, for those of you who don’t let us fill you in...

Firstly let’s introduce you to Kevin, kind hearted, sweet, funny, caring, loveable and very cheeky! Born 29/07/1980 to Wendy and Glen, Kevin was a real cheeky kid growing up! Always up to mischief with his 3 younger siblings, Adam, Shelly and Chris.

Kevin lived his life the way he wanted, not the way he was told he should! To the fullest! He spent time building relationships and friendships across the globe from England and Ireland to South Africa, where he had two beautiful children and eventually settling in China where he made his home!

Sadly Kevin had a few health issues, he tried his best to manage these with medication but it was not always possible. Unfortunately, on 30/07/2019, the day after his 39th birthday, Kevin passed away at his home in China.

We as a family are distraught and are slowly coming to terms with the reality of things, ‘Little’ things like not seeing his number on our screens, not hearing his voice again and not listening to his terrible jokes anymore. We have been doing everything we can to support one another and work out what to do next. Having Kevin in China brings many complications. At this time we do not know what caused his death, it’s very hard to be kept in the loop when it comes to the investigation with time and language barriers in the way. All we do know is this....it’s going to be very expensive to bring Kevin home.

Kevin is being kept in a funeral parlour in the town he lived in China, each day he is kept there more money is added to the bill, the Chinese police want to do a full investigation into his passing which we understand but this means he will be there for some time, which in turn means lots of money! On top of this there is the cost of repatriation, this is bringing Kevin home! This is a sad truth that people don’t talk about! It will cost roughly £10,000 to return Kevin to England so we as a family can say goodbye properly! This in turn brings you to the cost of a funeral! As most of you reading know, we are a family who work hard but don’t have a lot. In total we are looking at roughly £20,000 - £25,000. These are fees which we just cannot afford alone.

What we are asking is if anyone who knew Kevin, who got to enjoy his laughter, his smile and his cheeky ways, please could you donate something, ANYTHING, to help us bring Kevin home to us. Where he belongs. With his family so that he isn’t alone anymore.
