    Story

    Hi there

I've been suffering from Chronic Late Stage Lyme Disease for the last 7 years after getting bitten by a tick. As it wasn’t treated with antibiotics by my GP, the infection spread across my body, resulting in a series of unpleasant and ongoing symptoms, such as migratory muscle pain, neuropathy in the extremities, unexplained skin rashes, drenching night sweats, low energy, and decreased cognitive ability, which have all limited my ability to live a normal lifestyle. I'm on pain medications currently, but it's not making much difference. Those who know me will know how profound the impact has been on my everyday life.

I've been told by the NHS there are no Lyme Literate Doctors and that their hands are tied until the Government reviews their treatment guidelines. Over the last few years I’ve been motivated to do everything from a nutritional, supplemental, and psychological viewpoint to getting my health back in shape (including going completely sugar, gluten and dairy free!) along with a graded exercise programme, but these have only helped so much..

After doing all the research we can and having consulted several experts, it’s clear that I will need longer term antibiotics and immune support over the course of 12-15 months to help me get back toward good health and a normal life. The NHS don’t fund this kind of treatment so I have to travel to Washington DC to be treated privately.

I’m doing everything I can, including staying in work whilst dealing with the upcoming unpleasant die off effects of the drugs, to fund this, along with donating all my savings to it. But it just won’t be enough to get me the treatment I desperately need to help me get my life back! And that's where you come in..

A £10 donation can get me a tenth of the way towards my next Intravenous Infusion. A £50 donation can provide me almost a month's worth of the Antibiotics I'll need. £100 will cover 20% of my flight cost. My first 6 months (flights, accommodation, consult, meds included) will be around £5000 or so. I'll need to then travel back to America for further treatment, which will cost around the same or slightly cheaper for the next 6 months. It will come to £10,000 overall.

I'd like to share photos of my journey on here. Donations have a massively positive impact. I'd be forever grateful for contributions so that we can both make a contribution to kicking Lyme’s ass! I'd love you to be a part of this journey.

Hi followers, Today ex Rugby World Cup winner Matt Dawson explained his experience of Lyme Disease on BBC News today. Was a bit of a hero of mine growing up when we won the World Cup. He had to have 2 heart operations and is still on medication. Ticks were found in three-quarters of London's parks, so be vigilant and put on tick spray.
