I am raising money for “Where there is a Will there is a way.” Will Allen is a former student at a local primary school in Wallasey. I managed the play club he attended for two years and therefore know Will and his family through the school setting.
Below is a foreward on his official poster, written by Will:
“My name is Will and I am 14 years old and I was diagnosed with a rare, inoperable brain tumour 12 months ago. Following radiotherapy which shrank the tumour, it is now growing again. My family are reaching out to everyone by asking an incredible £80,000 (just £1 from 80,000 people) to pay for innovative treatment which I need to begin within the next few weeks. This treatment will improve my life in the hope I can return to school and have fun again.”
I originally was going to row 50km (50,000 Metres) on the water, but after taking advice and reviewing risk assessments, it is not possible to be on the water. Therefore I will resort back to my trusted SkiErg Concept 2 indoor Ski Simulator. The SkiErg is an indomitable machine, and if you simply Youtube it, you will appreciate the measure of the task. I will complete the row on Thursday 8th December 2016. This will be completed in one hit, and should take approximately 6 hours to row the complete distance. I have never rowed this far previously, and I am taking Will’s wonderful advice “Where there is a Will there is a way!” This Row is an incredibly difficult task, but the most important thing you can do is to support this excellent cause for a local Wirral Resident.
