Story

Hi Folks,

In October last year Adam was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (also known as ALS). This is a rare disease that affects the brain and nerves resulting in weakness that gets worse over time and can significantly reduce life expectancy.

There is currently no known cure for this disease however there are treatments available in the UK that can reduce the impact on daily life. There are also treatments available abroad that have the potential to increase life expectancy, however these treatments are very expensive.

Adam has a wife and two young boys and is considered a good friend amongst his colleagues at SPIE. A group of us have committed to doing all we can to raise funds to help Adam in any way we can as he learns to live with his condition.

The first event we will be doing is the Great Manchester Run on Sunday 20th May 18 and we are looking for as many volunteers as possible to join us and raise as much money as possible through sponsorship. Participants can either complete the 10k course through Manchester City centre or the half marathon (21k). To join follow the link www.greatrun.org/great-manchester-run

If you are interested in taking part in this please contact Liam McMyler or Darragh O’Malley.

Thanks for your help!
