Story

In July of this Year. Matthew Dowell and myself will be travelling to Ghana to work as Student Physiotherapists in a Ghanaian Hospital. We are hoping to take Medical supplies and Physiotherapy supplies to the hospital. To do this we need to pay for the shipping cost of the items donated by local organisation. We are funding the trip ourselves and just need to cover the cost of shipping. If you can help either with a little bit of money or by donating children's clothes or medical/physiotherapy supplies we would be very grateful. Pictures of the items being used will be posted on facebook.

Atabie hospital is a Ghanaian urban hospital with a community outreach programme. The physiotherapy centre opened in 2016, has received governmental praise for raising the level of service in the area.

Our work placement is split between an urban and village setting, providing an opportunities to provide a patient centred focus in a busy hospital and a rural setting where cultural beliefs often influence compliance with modern medicine. Equipment is minimal and anything we can take to help the people in Atibie and the surrounding area will make a massive difference to the level of service we can provide. The money raised will be used to ship the medical supplies we have had donated and to purchase gloves, physio tape etc.

People have been very generous in donating medical supplies but these bulky items cost money to take and we don't want to leave anything behind that could assist in the care of our patients. Thank you for your support.
