I've raised £5200 to build Community Water Wells in memory of Adnan Miyasar

UPDATE 2: Wow. Kudos to everyone involved in this spectacular effort. To smash the second target after a mere twenty-four hours looks to be both a measure of just how highly our father had been regarded, and the sheer kindness of each and every one of you.
We would like to keep this page open until about the end of next week, with the extra donations being sent to the organising charity directly to fund their other ongoing activities. Muslim Hands is also involved in building and maintaining orphanages, educating the less fortunate and fighting to end hunger in the most impoverished regions of the world.

Well done one and all for helping to rally such an effort.

UPDATE: We are at a complete loss of words at how quickly our initial target was reached, and at the same time, so warmed in our hearts by the generosity of our friends, friends of friends and family. With the slight risk of sounding pretentious, our dad would always tell us that the sky is the limit, so we have decided to raise our initial target to something a bit more ambitious.
More wells means more lives changed, and this is all a direct cause of the kindness of your hearts. Amazing.

Peace be upon you.
We are raising funds to build a community water well, which will help provide clean water for over one thousand people, in memory of our dear father Adnan.
In our faith, after someone passes away, the best way to pass on blessings and commemorate their life is to donate to charity. Our father had dedicated so much of his life helping those who are in need, so it is also in this vein that we have chosen to set up this page.
Water is seen as a blessing in our faith. We use water for everything; from washing ourselves, to cooking food and growing crops. Communities who don’t have readily available access to clean water face unthinkable hardships, with families and children having to walk four hours to collect just a bucketful.
The beauty of choosing to erect a well is that it is a gift that keeps on giving. Generations of families will have their quality of life unimaginably improved by a necessity that so many of us take for granted.
We have chosen to build the well in Niger. Along with general poverty, the main problems that the country face relate to the environment. Niger is often hit with intense droughts, poor soil conditions and the gradual spread of its desert. The economy can barely fund infrastructure, and the extreme climate makes installation and maintenance a major challenge.
This is where we can all take part in helping those who so truly need it. 100% of the donations will go to building the well, and the charity that will be organizing the development of the well is Muslim Hands.
Thank you for so selflessly choosing to give help to those who need it, in a time where most of us could do with a helping hand.
Ahl Adnan (Family of Adnan).
