Story
Today is the 19th August 2018.
1 month from now will be 19th September 2018. I therefore have exactly 1 month to raise these funds and deliver on the goal.
The 19th of September 2018 will be exactly 40 years since my dear friend Carl Bridgewater was so brutally murdered and taken from us all whilst delivering the local Express & Star newspaper. I think about this young man often and poignantly because I myself should have had the paper round. I was offered the round by my 'best friend' at the time Jon Hanson who was giving up the round. Having gone out with Jon to experience the round I declined to take it on and our mutual and dear friend Carl took it on.
Carl was a wonderful young man who would have grown into a beautiful loving soul but was brutally snatched away at just 13 years old delivering newspapers for a little pocket money.
We all played so 'care free' on our adjoining front gardens and surrounding area. Games like,
'Rally 123'.. 'TAG'.. 'Spotlight'.. 'Piggyback Fighting'.
wonderful innocent childhood times, so cruelly snatched away.
Having spoken with Carl's parents it is now my intension to have a long lasting memorial bench installed within the grounds of Himley Hall, hopefully overseeing the lake in which Carl spent much time practicing and honing his sailing skills.
Sadly I'm not in a position to finance this on my own, so it was suggested that I ask for help to achieve this goal. So with your help then 'together' we CAN achieve this. 'Knock and the door will be opened.. Seek and you will find.. Ask and it will be delivered unto you'. So my dear friends; I'm 'knocking'.. 'Seeking' and 'Asking'. I'm starting this fundraising with my own donation of £50. If we are able to reach and even surpass this goal, then the excess funds will be donated to a charitable cause chosen by Carls parents. THANK YOU for reading this story. God bless you all as you continue your own journey we should all gratefully call life. xx
