Story

We are the residents of The General Hospital and would like to collect funds to install a public automatic external defribrillator in its own box somewhere on the old hospital site. At this location there will be over 200 apartments and it is a very popular drinking and eating location with The Ostrich, The Golden Guinea and The Louisianna pubs and Casamia and Paco Tapas restaurants. Further away are M-Shed and the Cargo stores and restaurants. The nearest public AEDs are on Princess Street and St Thomas Street (0.4 miles and 0.5 miles away). The purchase of this AED would provide a very strategically placed public asset and potentially save lives. Cardiac Arrests affect all people of all ages and AED devices help restart peoples hearts in these situations. They are easy to use and only provide electric shocks when they determine that it is necessary. Please help us to provide this extremely helpful resource for our local community. Any funding left over from the procurement, installation and five years of maintenance (or if we fall short of the target) will be donated to the British Heart Foundation.
