Story
After recently attending a first aid course, our family became aware of just how important it is for a local community to have access to an (AED) Automated External Defibrillator.
Regardless of age or ability we don't always know if we have a heart problem until it is too late.
We felt that the ideal place for an AED would be our local park, used by young and old, a perfect place for family and friends of all ages to come together.
With this in mind, we approached Friends of Woodheys Park, and they welcomed the idea and agreed that it would be a viable location for an AED to be fitted.
The AED we have chosen can be used on anyone of any age, it is fully automated, so no training is required. It is easy to use and provides verbal and on screen instructions, whilst an ambulance is on its way.
To cover all costs we need to raise £3,000. In order to raise this amount we have decided that starting in June and throughout the summer months we will be organising various activities such as Tea & Coffee mornings at the pavilion in Woodley’s Park, Treasure Hunts, a Raffle and other fun activities to get everyone within the community involved.
Further details of events will follow once dates are confirmed.
We would appreciate any help that you could offer, every £1 will make a difference.
Having this AED on site really could make a difference and possibly save a life of a park user or the life of a resident nearby.
With the support of Friends of Woodheys Park and the local community, this target is achievable!
