After the explosion in the Beirut port on the 4th of August, my kids saw their Lebanese grandmother really worried and working around the clock for a charity called AEP that she helped to set up in 1984. They want to help the AEP too and have launched a website to do that. This is the justgiving page that goes with their website.
The AEP lends money to farmers and small businesses that cannot raise money from banks. These borrowers were badly affected by the explosion - some directly, through damage to their homes or businesses and others through the loss of their customers. AEP moved quickly to forgive loans for those in the worst situation and is now raising money to provide grants and new loans to help people to restart their lives and livelihoods.
