Story
Hello, I am the manager of AFC Barwell Ravens U14's, and we have a fantastic set of lads who work hard for each other in training and on the pitch.
On Saturday 29th August 2020, the players and coaches of AFC Barwell Ravens U14's community football team will take part in a 70-mile virtual relay along Hadrian's Wall, all while dribbling a football.
The boys will 'start' their run at 10.30 from 'Carlise Castle' and will travel via five checkpoints until they reach the' Millennium bridge in Newcastle'.
The boys will work in teams of five and each dribble the ball 1/2 a mile at a time using the dreaded bleep test (level 5) before handing over to another group of five. We've had a couple of practices, and it's not easy, so this will be a real challenge.
We anticipate each boy will complete the level 5 bleep test challenge a total of seven times. We think the whole event will take approximately 4 - 5 hours.
We believe involving the boys in the raising of funds for kit and equipment, helps them to understand that if they want something they have to work for it and that money doesn't fall out of the sky. We work hard to instil personal responsibility within the team.
We hope to raise enough money to buy each of the boys a team winter jacket and maybe even a team tracksuit.🤞
We understand we are in difficult times, but £5 or £10 donation will really help us reach our target.
The event will take place at Dovecote Way, Barwell. We will be running in a cordoned-off area near to the clubhouse, and you are welcome to drop by and cheer on the lads.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and supporting the players of AFC Barwell Ravens.
