Weʼre raising £6,000 to Replace the dugouts, Replace the pitch side fencing, Repair the boundary fence, Replace the storage container
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
AFC Birmingham was founded a number of years ago and consisted of one team that played on a Saturday and Sunday.
The home pitch used to be a well known factory pitch near Rowley Regis that had been unused for a long time. Overtime the has been restored but any buildings that were present had long since been removed. In order to make the pitch as professional as possible a number of items were recycled, bus shelters became dugouts, scaffolding poles became pitch side fencing, old stadium boards from the nearby Goals soccer centre added to the look and an old shipping container provided some much needing storage.
This year the pitch has been used by a second team and there are plans to add a third and fourth age group to the club next season.
However, in late December the pitch was broken into and about a 10 meter section of the green fencing was pushed onto the pitch.
Whilst this was bad enough further damage was sustained at the end of the month when vandals returned and smashed the perspex of the dugouts.
This led to a group of parents giving up their time on New Years Eve to repair what they could in order to get the pitch ready for the next home game.
Unfortunately it meant using barriers from elsewhere on the pitch and we have been unable to replace the perspex in the shelters.
The vandals gained access through damage to the boundary fencing, which has been temporarily repaired but needs replacing.
Along with all the repairs we need to replace the storage container as it is starting to reflect its age and when it rains all of the training and grounds equipment stored within gets soaked.
As a grassroots football club we do not have the funds necessary to make all the required repairs and would love to replace the dugouts and fencing with something stronger and built for this specific use.
The initial quotes we have received for replacing the dugouts with a brick built alternative, replacing and extending the field fence with a something built for this purpose, repairing the boundary fencing and replacing the storage container total around £6,000. If we could raise this amount it would be fantastic and would enable all the damage to repaired and the facilities improved to try and prevent it from happening again. To beat this target would be unbelievable and enable AFC Birmingham to further improve the facilities provided.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any help that you can provide.
