fans of AFC Wimbledon are clubbing together to buy a gift for Wally Downes to say thank you for the Great Escape last year.
the idea is to raise a minimum Of £100 with which we will buy a plaque, engraved with

We will also buy a card and endeavour to carry as many messages as possible from donators.
if we raise nearer £500 we will upgrade the gift to an engraved watch.
in either case, we will be hoping to present WD with the plaque/watch at a game or farewell drinks event in Wimbledon - but this part is very much TBC.

5 years agoHey everyone, just a reminder that you’re the best! We aimed for £100, we hit £1,600! Phenomenal but then the Great Escape was a phenomenal achievement, so it’s very fitting. The watch has been ordered and a card with all your messages is being produced as we speak. Anything left over will go towards a plaque. We are Due to present Wally with his Thank You gift at the drinks get together on Saturday - see previous post for details. And hope to see you there. Thanks again!

5 years agoSo, thanks to everyone who has chipped in/shared the link (etc) for the ‘thank you’ gift for Wally. We’re up to £1,150 and counting (and anyone who wishes to can still add to it for a few days yet). We’re looking at sharing a few drinks with the man himself and presenting his gift and card to him on November 23, after the Gillingham game. If you would like to join, we will be heading to The Alex from around 6pm - the more the merrier. #WeAreWimbledon
