The African Children of Mathare Project seeks to empower young people living in one of the poorest areas of Kenya to tell their own stories through the medium of Photography and Film.

Boasts a population of approximately 500,000 people crammed into roughly three square miles -- Mathare is the second-largest slum in the Kenyan capital, and infamously tough. Widespread poverty, unemployment and a high crime rates are just some of the challenges facing young people as they grow up
