Story
A Death in the Family.
We recently became aware of Flavia's situation over in Kampala, Uganda and felt compelled to act. Our aim is to raise funds to maintain some semblance of balance within the lives of Flavia and her family after their mother Regina (pictured above with 4 of her children) was unexpectedly taken ill and passed away. Although Regina had suffered with long term lung problems her symptoms seemed to be under control.
However, the death of their mother left Flavia (who is only 15 years old) being catapulted into becoming 'mother' herself to her younger siblings (of which the youngest Laurence is 4 years old) whilst also trying to establish herself as a hairdresser through sponsorship within a salon. (It's hopeful that she will eventually be able to support her family once she gains some maturity and further experience in this field)
Laurence.
Living conditions were very poor where the family previously lived and it was through the help of the charity African Hope for Single Mothers, amongst others, that they were able to relocate the children to a more suitable area and within distance of where Flavia is currently working.

They all now live under the same roof within a small complex that gives them all a bit of peace and security and will hopefully give them a bit of time to come to terms with the loss of their mother as a family.
There are still bills to be paid, however, that need urgent attention. The main ones being rent and childcare costs for Laurence whilst Flavia is able to further her experience and maturity within the hair salon.
The children are lucky to have such wonderful people donate already to help with their schooling costs but we still need to find money to help sustain them through this period. We are hoping if we can raise £550 at least this will give them 12 months grace.
We'll be holding a charity night in aid of this family at the wonderful Community SOUL coffee shop on the evening of Thursday 5th July as well as any other charitable fundraisers we can think of to help raise this money.
ALL donations will be graciously received and updates will be posted on the family's progress as and when we hear about it.
Family is EVERYTHING.

"Sun, sun goes down. There is no pain here . Beside her. Beside her. Somewhere deeper I hear her . As from a dream. And it's all that I can keep . Of what might have been . I've fallen down and I'm in your space . And I know that the time has come . To feel your grace."

6 years agoI'm really happy to announce that with our fundraising event at Community SOUL last Thursday (05/07/18) we managed to successfully reach our target of £550. We are keeping the page open for any further donations however up until the 25th September if you'd like to add your support in helping this beautiful family in Uganda. We really can't thank you enough for making this happen in such a short space of time. We are truly blessed to know such wonderful people in our community and further afield. ONE love.

Just had a quick whip round at work (Wirralco) and hopefully this will help a little towards raising enough funds for the children.

My philosophy is to treat other people how I wish to be treated. If someone can make that small difference in the lives of others then that can often make a HUGE difference in their own. Kindness and compassion costs nothing. ONE love ONE earth ONE people.
