My name is Korrine Sky , and I am a second-year Zimbabwean-British medical student who fled Ukraine on 25th February following Russia's invasion. You can read more about my story HERE , HERE & HERE . Since leaving Ukraine, I've dedicated my time to supporting thousands of African and International students who've been displaced all over the world with their immediate needs.

As refugees, we shared our heartbreaking stories of racism, violence, and discrimination that we faced at the Ukrainian borders. Although there are scholarships and support packages in place to assist Ukrainian refugees, non-Ukrainian students have been denied equal support. This has left many of us unable to continue our education and with no clear path forward . With time running out, we're being forced to leave the countries we fled to, with very few options.

Currently, many students are out of education because support packages and aid aren't available to them. Many are facing deportation or issues with immigration as their visas are running out, so they'll need to resettle soon. Many are homeless and do not have access to accommodation.

I started the Africans in Ukraine Education Fund to help students find shelter, medical and legal aid, and emergency grants. This student-led grassroots organization is currently supporting over 2,000 students, solely funded by crowdfunding and our own personal funds. For many students, this is their only lifeline.
