Story

This page is for my mother, Agnes Duncan, who is currently in ICU in Johannesburg, SouthAfrica. She was medically evacuated there from Zambia on 6 Sep18 following an operation she did not wake up from. The operation was to fix two slipped disks in her neck. Recently we found out that from a lack of oxygen during the operation she suffered a servere stroke that has left her with global hypoxia. This has left her only able to open her eyes.

We want to get mom home to Zambia for a number of reasons;
1. Her Doctors and family feel if there is any chance of recovery it will be at home where she will be happier and more comfortable with her family, animals, familiar sights, sounds and smells.
2. She will be less prone to infections.
3. It costs nearly £2500 a DAY in the ICU and her insurance only covers a limited amount ($500k) that is close to running out and has limitations.

The money raised will pay for medical equipment/support once she is home as well as hospital bills not covered by her insurance due to her policy only covering 90 days on life assisting equipment.

Broken down the money will go towards;
Expenses in the hospital not covered by insurance £2000+
Feeds for home (PEG) £4000
Medical supplies/equipment £6000
Nurses/carers £6000, 4 in a 24hr period.
Batteries & deisel £3000, these are needed due to the frequent load shedding and powercuts in Zambia.
There will also be everyday and ongoing costs not yet budgeted for.

For every £1000 I raise I will cut an inch of hair off. The cut hair will be donated to the Little Princess Trust. Their minimum donation is 7 Inches and I have 4 times that.

I know some people would rather I didn't shave my hair so if you're in this group but still want to support us please donate to my moms origional page. https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/agnes-duncan-1

We really appreciate all the support and thank you all for any donations - every little bit helps hugely.

Thank you

The Duncans!
