    Story

On Sunday 7 April 2019, for the second year running, AGGS PTA are entering more than one team in the 4-leg relay in the Manchester Marathon. This year, we have THREE teams entered - eight members of staff and four parents - all running to help raise funds for much needed equipment for our school ...and the race is on to see which team can bring home the best time !!

Team AGGSPTA # 2 is Paula Payne ( Art), Rick Berry ( School Business & Finance Manager), Niamh Devlin ( English) and James Flanagan (History).

Team AGGSPTA #3 is Danielle Bloomfield (PE), Nicola Walker (Assistant Vice Principal), John Carr (Maths) and George Olney (Trainee Maths Teacher).

Team AGGSPTA #1 (parents) is Jane Mackie (mum of Keira Y7 and Kirsten Y9), Nicola Stanley (Isobel's mum, Y9), Catherine Burtinshaw (mum of Chloe Y7 and Imogen Y9) and Dave Parkes (dad of Lucy Parkes Y7)

Paula, Rick, and the two Nicola's are running as part of the AGGS PTA team for the second year running - and we have convinced George that this is part of his teacher training programme. We are super grateful to all twelve runners for making this commitment to run and for setting such a great example to our children!

All money raised will go to AGGS PTA to help us buy much needed equipment and help fund educational needs for our school. In the last nine months, the PTA has approved over 15 bids from different departments across the school, buying new equipment for the departments of PE, History, DT and Food Tech, Apple Macs for the Art Dept and laptops for DT, subscriptions for online learning resources for both English and MFL, organisation of a mental health awareness week in school, new lighting and equipment for the drama studio, improvements to the seating in the library, a replacement wooden gazebo for the school grounds .... the list goes on. It is vital we continue to raise funds to maintain this level of support to the school.

We are delighted to announce this year, that the very lovely people at intu Trafford Centre have very generously offered to sponsor our teams and donated TWO £50 shopping vouchers, to be won by a student sponsor (in school) and an adult sponsor (online)...so by sponsoring our superheroes, you will automatically enter the draw !!

A HUGE Thank you to our runners for supporting us (again) on the wild idea we had last year - we truly appreciate your time, the training and ‘general fabulousness’ for doing this, and if we can raise anywhere near the £2.7k we raised last year, it will be well worth all the carbs and jelly babies you are being forced to consume!

Please sponsor them and help our wonderful school. Sponsorship is welcome in all shapes and sizes - literally every penny counts!

    Thank you!
