Story

Please meet Agnes. She is over 90 years old. She has got few illnessesand is after many hospital stays. Despite her small body and age, she is full with life. Ive met her almost 10 years ago on my hospital stay. Im 29 now. I ended up in a hospital as a consequence of my eatimg disorder. Thats how I met Agnes. She was like my granny from day 1. She was not thinking about herself even once! She was always smiling and offering her help even though she was hardly walking as had some issues with her hips. Nurses told me later that she is in condtant pain due to all her illnesses but she is never moaning. My mum was really grateful for her attitude to me and asked for her address to send her some thank you flowers. Instead of sending her the flowers we drove to her. She lives in the middle of nowhere. Her house is in the middle of the forest. There are only 2 more houses nearby. She's been living her for over 60years. And it doesnt look like she ever had renovated it. Her husband died 20 years ago but it still makes her eyes wet when she's talking about him. She has got one son who is not living with her and very rarely even visits her.
My mum and I are trying to visit her as much as possible but it's not as often as we'd like to as it's 3 hours one way and we are both working full time.
I recently started thinking about all the changes that Agnes require, including 'refreshing' her house and getting her a lightweight wherlchair. But what's the point of buying her a wheelchair if her house is full with thresholds....her house doesnt have central heating. And theres noone to bring her coal or wood on a daily basis. Her bath is very old and simply dangerous for her. She even doesnt have a proper bed. The one she has is probably as old as the whole house.

Please help me in easing Agnes's life and making few changes in her house and life. She would never ask for anything for herself, so I need to do it for her!
